I’ve been wanting to go on a Kidical Mass ride for about a year. My kids’ have had activities with time conflicts each time. Last Saturday, it turned out that my oldest daughter got a ride to her function with a friend and the rest of us weren’t going. It happened to be the day of a tweed ride for Kidical Mass. I broke several spokes on my rear wheel again on the way, but the wheel wasn’t so misshapen that I couldn’t ride. What a fun first! My kids and I all met new friends. I got to talk to other family cyclists about their set-ups. We met at Monroe Park and rode to Riverplay Playground at Skinner’s Butte Park for tea and scones.
Bikes at Kidical Mass ride. There were so many different set-ups: cargo bikes, longtails, bakfeits, touring bikes, Piccolos and other trail-a-bikes, trailers, bike seats and kids riding solo. It was a great chance to see all of the different options in action.
